Had a bar meal small beer battered haddock with scrappy chips, the beer batter on the haddock was nice and crispy, the scrappy chips were great too.. my only complaint would be the thimble of tartar sauce, staff seemed friendly enough and meal arrived quickly

Lovely food, large portions and quite good choice but not enough vegetarian options for me. Nevertheless, it was really good. Great service and lovely surroundings. The tables were spaced apart enough to have a fairly private conversation. Would definitely visit again 👍😊

We were unfortunately given a room which had low beams throughout, so was not suitable as a bedroom for anyone taller than 4 or 5 feet. I’m 6 ft plus, so it meant a poor nights sleep worrying about going to the loo and no real way to even watch tv. The room should carry a warning, not just saying watch your head.

+ Ideally located to explore the city. Typical "pub" experience. - when paying for hotel parking as a staying guest. Was expensive though: 30 pounds!

My wife and I really like the Steak and Ale pie when we call at the pub but we’re disappointed as they had sold out and we ended up choosing something else off the menu. I had the lasagna off the main menu and my wife ordered the beef mince pie off the daily menu. The meals were okay but not great.

+ Rustic room but modern, comfortable amenities with everything you need - In our room (15) there was truck noise early in the morning. There are stairs to access the room, if that's a problem.

+ The evening meal was lovely as always (Lamb Shank). Did not have breakfast. Always a good atmosphere in the bar area, not been in the Restaurant.

+ Great location large room friendly staff good meal - Advertised on site parking but on arrival told to park in public car park down the street even though the onsite car park was nearly empty
