Food Hygiene Rating Scheme 5*

The food safety officer inspecting a business checks how well the business is meeting the law by looking at:

  • how hygienically the food is handled – how it is prepared, cooked, re-heated, cooled and stored
  • the condition of the structure of the buildings – the cleanliness, layout, lighting, ventilation and other facilities
  • how the business manages and records what it does to make sure food is safe

At the end of the inspection, the business is given one of the six ratings. The top rating of ‘5’ means that the business was found to have ‘very good’ hygiene standards. Any business should be able to reach this top rating. The food safety officer will explain to the person who owns or manages the business what improvements are needed and how they can achieve the top rating of ’5′.  The local authority will check that these improvements are made.

The FoY swyddog diogelwch bwyd yn arolygu gwiriadau busnes pa mor dda y mae’r busnes yn bodloni’r gyfraith drwy edrych ar: • pa mor hylan mae’r bwyd yn cael ei drin a’i drafod – sut y mae’n cael ei baratoi, ei goginio, ei ailgynhesu, ei oeri a’i storio • cyflwr strwythur yr adeiladau – glanweithdra, cynllun, goleuadau, awyru a chyfleusterau eraill • sut mae’r busnes yn rheoli ac yn cofnodi’r hyn y mae’n ei wneud i sicrhau bod bwyd yn ddiogel
Ar ddiwedd yr arolygiad, mae’r busnes yn cael ei roi yn un o’r chwe sgôr. Mae’r sgôr uchaf o ‘5 ‘yn golygu bod y busnes yn dod o hyd i gael safonau hylendid da iawn’. Dylai unrhyw fusnes yn gallu cyrraedd y sgôr uchaf. Bydd y swyddog diogelwch bwyd yn egluro wrth y person sy’n berchennog neu reolwr y busnes pa welliannau sydd eu hangen a sut y gallant gyrraedd y sgôr uchaf o ‘5 ‘. Bydd yr awdurdod lleol yn gwirio bod y gwelliannau hyn yn cael eu gwneud. Mae’r Cynllun Sgorio Hylendid Bwyd wedi ei gynllunio i wneud yn siŵr bod y graddau a roddir i fusnesau yn deg.

od Hygiene Rating Scheme has been designed to make sure that the ratings given to businesses are fair.
